About the Long Range Transportation Plan This Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a federally-mandated plan, which is updated every five years and attempts to ensure that proposed improvements to the regional transportation system enhance the movement of goods and people in an efficient and economic manner. The plan must be fiscally-constrained and project specific, meet the principles of environmental justice, meet regional air quality standards, and include public participation throughout the planning process. The LRTP is not a wish list - all projects and policies are based on anticipated funding. CMCOG is currently updating the region’s LRTP, which is called the Midlands Tomorrow: 2035 Long Range
